Christian von Hirschhausen is Professor for Economic and Infrastructure Policy at Berlin University of Technology, and Research Director for International Industrial and Infrastructure Policy at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), and Member of the Microenergy Systems Research Association@TU Berlin. M.A. (Economics) from the University of Colorado at Boulder (1988), Diplom-Ingenieur (Industrial Engineering) from TU Berlin University of Technology, PhD (Doctor in Industrial Economics) from the Ecole des Mines de Paris (1995), and habilitation (venia legendi) in Economics from TU Berlin University of Technology (2002). Previous position at University of Technology Dresden.

Von Hirschhausen’s research focusses on environmental, energy and resource economics, infrastructure and network economics, applied industrial economics, and political and institutional economics. He published extensively on energy and resource markets (electricity, gas, coal, nuclear, renewables), regulation, network economics, and, more recently, on the low-carbon energy transformation in Germany, Europe, and globally.
