Mehmet Islamoglu is a Graduate Research Assistant at the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR) while pursuing a Master of Science in Technology and Policy. His work involves assessing the commercial readiness and policy implications of novel decarbonization technologies. He applies methodologies such as feasibility studies, market analysis, and techno-economic modeling to evaluate emerging energy systems. His current research focuses on turquoise hydrogen technologies, analyzing their potential markets and the policy frameworks required to support their deployment.
Before his graduate studies, Mehmet gained three years of industry experience as a software engineer at HubSpot. There, he specialized in large-scale data engineering, developing deep expertise in distributed database systems while building high-throughput platforms for enterprise search and reporting. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a graduate of Robert College in Istanbul, the oldest continuously operating American school outside of the United States.
