Phuong Ho is a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT CEEPR. Her primary research spans environmental and energy economics, as well as industrial organization. She examines how businesses make decisions in regulated markets, analyzing the effectiveness and consequences of environmental and resource regulations. Phuong also investigates the costs of environmental disamenities and their distributional impacts on nearby communities. Her work explores various sectors, including municipal solid waste disposal, fishery management, natural gas extraction, and mineral mining. At CEEPR, she joins the team working on the Roosevelt project, which addresses challenges in key industries during the US transition toward a low-carbon economy. She specifically conducts research centering around mining and processing of critical minerals for the green energy transition.
Prior to CEEPR, Phuong received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Arizona, spent time as a postdoctoral researcher in Norway, and was a visiting scholar at Cornell University. She received a B.Com. in economics and finance (First Class Honors) from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
